Before you need it

• Install Firefly on every family phone while you still have internet.
• Turn off Settings › App Store › Offload Unused Apps. An offloaded app needs internet to come back.
• Export an encrypted backup (Settings › Backup & paper copy) and keep it on a USB-C drive or a family member's phone.
• Print the binder from the same place.

Common questions

I forgot my backup passphrase. We can't recover it. Firefly has no server and never sees your passphrase or your data.

Nearby messages aren't arriving. Both phones need Firefly open with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on (they don't need to be connected to a network). Messages hop between phones running Firefly, so they can take a while.

The map is blank without internet. Offline maps need a map region file for your area. The Offline map screen explains how to make one and copy it in.

When you write, tell us your iPhone model, iOS version and Firefly version (Settings › About). Please don't send medical details, document scans or passwords.
